Love Never Dies

前一陣子，在Twitter 看到有人談及這套新的Musical，作為Phantom Of The Opera (POTO) 的愛好者，當然對這套續集有興趣。剛好kkbox 可以聽到，便下載來聽。

在Wikipedia 裏先了這套音樂劇的大綱和評價，在3月推出初時是毀多於譽的。我是很容易受人影響，加上知道這故事是以悲劇收場，收聽的意慾大減，在3月中聽了一次便沒有再聽了。但說也奇怪，這個多星期，當中不同的歌曲不停在腦中響起（反而主題曲 Love Never Dies 一次也沒響過），驅使我這兩天又再聽一次，這次的感覺很不一樣。

以往聽音樂劇，多數知道故事的大綱便算數，今次，或許是做了爸爸，會對劇中其中Phantom 做了爸爸有多些感受吧（雖然這亦是最難接受的部份！）我覺得，Andrew Lloyd Webber 寫這套續集是給Phantom 一個救贖。在 POTO，Phantom 是一個天才橫溢，卻因其扭曲了的外貌而變得極其乖僻，最後因為Christine 的接納而選擇離開心愛的她，成為一個逃犯。而在Love Never Dies (LND) 裏，他得到Christine的心，從Raoul 手中贏到Christine 的人，雖然最後Christine 被誤殺了，但臨終前將兒子Gustave 交托給Phantom，他的愛由最初無所托到最後投射到自己和 Christine 的愛情結晶上，以此作結，對Phantom來說，已算是上天的恩賜。

故事其實有不少突兀之處，單是Christine 婚前一晚和Phantom 的一夜情，便已叫POTO迷難以接受；POTO 中的白馬王子 Raoul 在LND 中變成酗酒的賭鬼，又是一大問題。但我一方面是個講故不駁故的人，另一方面亦是Phantom控，見到他有個較理想的結局，便收貨了。

音樂方面，是我聽Andrew Lloyd Webber 這麼多套音樂劇中，差不多最易入耳的一套。和POTO 一樣，喜歡的歌大都在Act 1，如Til I Hear You Sing，Beneath A Moonless Sky（留意：歌詞相當露骨），Dear Old Friend，Beautiful ，還有The Beauty Underneath。如之前所說，Love Never Dies 反而不覺得特別動聽。

期望有機會親眼欣賞這套音樂劇。

Mr Cellophane

同事上星期去日本旅行，托她幫我買一些東西。今天她返到公司，我問她時，她說完全忘記了。其實能否買到，我是無所謂的。返回自己位時，心中忽然響起這首歌： Mr Cellophane。

Mr Cellophane 是Chicago 這套音樂劇內的其中一首歌。當年Chicago在港上演，我和娘子一同去看。來到今天，僅有的印象有三：All that Jazz 這首歌，那個一邊吹trumpet 一邊踢腿的肥佬樂手，還有那個有點瘦削的演出者一邊擺動身子一邊唱這首 Mr Cellophane。反而其他的勁歌熱舞，我是絲毫沒有印象。

劇中的Amos，得知老婆懷孕了，想公告全世界他就是爸爸，但沒有人理睬他。跟着他便唱這首歌。以下是這首歌的歌詞：

那個演員很能把那種從小便被忽視的人的無奈，透過歌聲和身體語言表達出來。事實上，當謝謝時，他這個配角所得的掌聲並不比其他主要角色少，可見他的表演很得大家的認同。印象深刻，是基於對弱者的同情，還是對角色有共鳴，我想是兩樣都有吧。

看過youtube 上不同版本的演譯，包括電影版，始終找不回那種感覺。

話說回來，同事並沒有視如我透明，她買了一套衫給Daniel，不過尺碼太大，暫時不合身。總之，先謝過了。
