最近網上多了兩個新玩意，一個是已在網上不繼被討論的Google+，另一個是較少人知道的ifttt。在過去一個星期，從同事得到Google+ 的邀請，而ifttt 在兩天前亦發了邀請給我， 使我有機會嘗試這些新玩意。
Google+，用最簡單的方法說明，是Google 版的facebook+twitter。兩者最大的分別，是Google+用了Circle 的概念去分享訊息。舉個例，現在每一天放工後，我都會在Twitter 發推，好讓家人知我大概什麼時間會回到家裏。這種訊息，大家都不會在facebook分享，大部份「朋友」亦無興趣知道；在twitter 分享，情況會好一點，因為對我大部份的follower 來說，這句「放工」只是千百個短訊中的一條，很快便會沉底；而在Google+，我可以開一個圓圈給家人（Google+已經預設了家人這個圈了），以後，我便只需將這條訊息發到家人的圈，家人便可知道我何時離開公司，其他圈的人又不需被無關痛癢的訊息騷擾。
現在還在摸索應如何便用Google+，期待它的iOS app。
ifttt 的意思是 "if this then that"，是一個新的web service，例如，如果(if)在Google Reader 分享某篇文章(this)，便(then)可將相關的訊息發到twitter 內(that)。想用相關的服務，是因為公司封閉了gmail，twitter 和 facebook，有時在公司想分享某些東西，要用種種方法，頗不方便，有了ifttt，我可以開設一些任務，它的伺服器會定時執行，分享便變得容易了。
兩項服務都仍是beta 當中，並未分開，暫時兩項服務我都有少量invitation (up to 10/6)，有興趣找我。

Twitter VS Facebook (Round 2)
上個星期，Facebook 推出了Lite 版，第一時間便登入試試。基本上，Lite 版是將App拿走了的Facebook，感覺上比以前接近 Twitter，好處是可以直接顯示多媒體的內容，不需像 Twitter 般只有一條縮短了的URL。
經過這個改動，和將要推出的＠Mention 功能，Facebook 大概會比 Twitter 更適合我去寫微博吧。最初我是這樣想的。但再細想時，發覺好像不是這麼簡單。最大的問題是兩個不同Platform的書寫文化。
如果，在Facebook 裏，你見到的盡是人們在說「早晨」、「這是我的早餐」、「放工了」、「晚安」，你大概會覺得很煩厭。但在 Twitter 看到這些，你會覺得很正常。待在Facebook 數年，發覺人們多數會寫一些比較抽象的感想，即或是記事，更新也不會太頻密，大家已習慣了一天最多做兩、三次status update。相反，在Twitter 內，一天十次更新可以算為中度使用者，活躍的可能每天上百個update，還要有過百人追他們的推。
Twitter 內寫的東西亦比較自由，可以是每日都做的事情，是忽然遇到的，是在網上看到的新聞，或是其他推友所說的。不是說在Facebook 不能寫這些東西，只是沒有人在寫，自已寫時便多了peer pressure了。
除非 Facebook Lite 的出現改變了大家寫status update 的文化，不然，大概我仍會留在 Twitter，繼續「發噏風」。

家庭報告版
娘子也開始用 twitter了。她主要是把家中的情況，特別是孩子們的狀況寫下來，大概是想留個紀錄，和給她唯一的 follower -- 即是我知道。
我爸媽和娘子都有用twitter，有時有什麼事情想大家知道，twitter 便成了比 SMS 和 MSN 更方便的工具，因為SMS 和 MSN都需要選擇發放訊息的對象，MSN 甚至需要對方在線，但twitter 是一個廣播給 follower 的渠道，它根本就是一個報告版。只是，從來都沒有想過 twitter 會變成我們家的報告版。
這是第一篇用iPhone 直接出的 blog，用的是 BlogWriterLite，如果順利，大概又會少些機會開電腦了。

What Twitter is to me
To me, Twitter is:
1. My microblog. I can jot down my daily routine, my feeling or thinking in brief, and share it with other people. unlike instant messenger, no specific audience is needed. And unlike blog, I don't have to set subject or tag.
2. Communication channel with my parents. I think this is quite special. Both my dad and mom opened Twitter account after I told them I did. Of course, they follow me. So, even I no longer live with them, they can "monitor " closely how my life is.
3. Window to the outside world. I have never been an outreaching person. The situation get worst after having Daniel and Esther. My life is now mostly about work and child caring. Hence, by reading other tweeters sharing their lives and their thoughts, Twitter becomes my gateway to know the outside world. In fact, it probably shows a more diversify world than I can ever experience myself.
4. News and feed reader. This was the main reason I started using Twitter. I read from other's blog that twitter can be treated as feed reader. So, I started with following bloggers that I have subscribed as well as some news tweeters, e.g. MacObserver. Now, twitter is more like a "push" news source to me, especially when I don't have time to read newspaper or magazine.
5. Adviser. Every one of us knows something better than others. So, by joining people together, we can get valuable advices on different areas. I've got some good advices from other tweeters on various issues.
When I first started playing with Twitter, I had no idea what all the buzz was about. Now, I am glad that I gave it a second chance. I believe I will have a hard time if it goes down, just like 2 days ago (due to DDoS attack.)
